Module 1: General Information about the Autism Spectrum

Module 1, "General Information About the Autism Spectrum", dives deep into what autism is, exploring its characteristics and dispelling common myths. The module discusses the challenges staff with Autism might face in the workplace and explores reasonable accommodations that can foster their success.  The module also covers Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) principles and how they align with social responsibility policies to create a welcoming and supportive work environment for all.


Module 2: Interaction with and Among All Staff

Module 2, "Interaction with and Among All Staff", focuses on communication strategies for successful interaction with staff on the autism spectrum. By the end of this module, learners will be able to motivate, provide feedback, and describe job roles, tasks, and responsibilities clearly. The module delves into setting and agreeing on goals, as well as effectively communicating changes. The module also equips learners with the skills necessary for promoting social inclusion within the team and with external stakeholders while fostering internal and external awareness of the benefits of a diverse workforce.

Module 3, "Change Management", empowers hospitality managers to navigate the process of integrating staff with autism. It teaches practical change management models adaptable for the hospitality industry, equipping learners to plan, manage, and lead successful change initiatives.  The module guides learners through crafting a change management plan and a robust transfer plan to facilitate knowledge-sharing among all staff members. It also explores the value of teamwork and collaboration in this process, fostering inclusivity for staff with and without autism. It also equips learners with valuable resources and techniques for a smooth and effective change management journey.

Module 4: Support Management

Module 4, "Support Management", teaches the knowledge and skills to create a welcoming environment for staff with autism. The module explores the impact of autism in the workplace and guides learners in managing autism-friendly teams.  The module delves into providing tailored training and fostering social inclusion.  Learners will discover the power of serious games and gamification, along with the core principles and design of the HOST Board Game, to empower their team.

Module 5: Evaluation and Monitoring

Module 5, "Evaluation and Monitoring", equips learners to leverage the HOST tools for fostering a truly inclusive workplace. The module explores the benefits these tools bring to managers, employees, and the entire team.  The module guides learners through utilising HOST tools effectively, along with understanding performance appraisals and their role in promoting job satisfaction.
